The customer’s Roots 406J carbon steel lobes were experiencing severe corrosion in a harsh service environment.
The OEM would not manufacture application-specific lobes unless the customer committed to a $0.5M minimum order, creating a major cost and feasibility barrier.

Blackstone:

• Replicated the OEM lobe geometry using high-accuracy 3D scans of quality samples provided by the customer.
• Manufactured new lobes in 316SS, a more suitable material for the service environment — all completed at a significantly reduced cost compared to OEM options.

• Achieved a 4×+ increase in service life, extending lobe reliability from under 6 months to more than 2 years.
• Reduced catastrophic lobe failures, which in turn increased the customer’s ability to refurbish housings and maintain overall reliability.
