Project

Blackstone Industrial Services successfully completed an overhaul of the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU). The project included extensive work on critical equipment such as expanders, compressors, steam turbines, electric motors, and gearboxes, all integral to the FCCU’s operation.

This project was executed between August 12 and September 8, 2024, with a team of 20 skilled personnel contributing 8,344 man-hours. 

Scope

Equipment Serviced:

  • Expander (Elliott Turbomachinery)
  • Axial flow compressor (RMS)
  • Steam turbine, electric motor, and gearbox (inspected and overhauled)

Tasks Completed:

  • Removal and reinstallation of the expander and compressor.
  • Inspection and overhaul of the steam turbine, electric motor, and gearbox.

Challenges

Remote Location: The Client’s facility is located in a remote area of North Texas, which posed logistical challenges.

Resource Scarcity: Limited availability of hotels and high demand for accommodations during the outage period added complexity to personnel arrangements.

Comprehensive Mobilization: All consumables, tooling, and equipment had to be transported to the site, ensuring the team was fully prepared for the task.
